I saw

by Julia   May 14, 2006

It seems as if it’s over now,
I pushed too far this time.
This was the last attempt I made,
To ignore all the signs.

I didn’t listen to you,
Though you tried so hard, indeed.
And as you fell to darkness,
I found it’s you I need.

And as you screamed curses at me,
Horror flooded my heart,
Sticks and stones are nothing, love,
Compared to words so tart.

My cries of empathy for you,
Turned out to be in vain,
As silence overtook the earth,
I saw, you died ((again)).

You landed on the stake of death,
Shock and hate on your face,
I looked away in horror,
As my heart began to race.

A pool of blood crept out of you,
In it I saw my eyes,
And for some insane reason,
I saw scenes of the old times.

I saw the golden days we shared,
When we knew not of hate,
I saw the times I long for now,
But sadly I’m too late.

I saw the things I never had,
Since I chose to be blind,
I looked away when you tried hard,
…My stupid senseless mind.

I saw the faults I made before,
I saw the bad mistakes,
I saw the times I tore you up,
My eyes chose to awake.

Just then did I see miracles;
I saw what could’ve been,
I saw us if we didn’t break,
I saw our hearts within.

Fateful desire drowned my sad soul,
My heart stopped beating then,
I chose to find you just once more,
To start over again.
