Emotional Maturity

How does one show signs of maturity?
Is it in our thoughts?
Is it in our Actions?
Is it in our Emotions?

We are ruled by our emotions,
Yet taught that the can be manipulated by thought,
And through this action be in control,
But there is only devastation on this route.

Even with our emotions tightly wound,
Bound by the chains of thought,
They continually strain against it,
Waiting to break free from confinement.

Pent up energy waiting to explode,
A tremendous force kept at by will power,
Slowly eroding the chains that bind them,
Swelling with intense, crushing pressure.

The control of thought finally breaks,
All action comes to a crashing halt,
As emotions come surging to through,
Flooding all reason out like dirt.

I believe maturity is shown,
By how we control the after effects,
Our emotions should rule the here,
The now, Controlled when extreme.

Used to help better understand ourselves,
Used to help cope with untenable situations,
Used to help others in need,
Used to live!
