This Could Have Been You

by Elisa   May 15, 2006

She fights for her life
In that hospital bed
Only knowing what happened
Not what's inside her head
The bruises and blood
The headaches galore
Were not on her mind
When she fell to the floor
The teacher and students
The body so cold
Her heart hadn't stopped
Her eyes had just closed
The ambulance and paramedics
The principal outside
They all watched in horror
As she went for that ride

The door, the room
The doctor, his seat
He knew what he'd say
would be such a feat
Her parents, that room
The girl not so pale
As the doctor told them
They started to wail
The dancer and actor
That beautiful girl
She had eight months to live
So there went her world
Gain the knowledge you can
about what you don't know
And remember it true
This could have been you.
