Caught Inside

by Matt   May 16, 2006

He's walking down his path of legacy
Where his stories live and play on his mind
Some displayed in the dying trees, covered with moss
And others in the rocks that turn to dust underfoot
He walks down the path, untrodden by any but he
With an aura flying off his skin
Like flames that lick the silent air around him
He glows with new vibrance from inside
And even the hallowing rain misses him
His boots grace the path like they never touched
While cloths mean nothing inside his idle fire
Looking behind his finds the memories long forgotten
Thrown over his shoulder like an empty wrapper
Catching themselves in invisible webs of disaster
Coated now with tiny drops of water that call out
Screaming for his attention in their dark nature
His apathy only grows as he looks on the broken
And the worn path he came from
When the stars went blue around his eyes
But never died from deep inside
