Beauty Unseen

by Always4You   May 17, 2006

I'm just a plain girl
At the age of fifteen
No one really knows me fully
I'm a beauty unseen

Beauty is not measured by the straightness of your teeth
Or the smoothness of your skin
It's much deeper than that
A treasure within

If you knew me
You wouldn't care about my appearance
You'd learn to love and respect
My individuality and perseverance

I don't give up when troubles roll my way
With a smile on my face and my head up high
I can do anything I put my mind to
Not listening to the crude replies

I don't need your opinion
On my life and who I have become
I'm happy just being me
People like you, I tend to shy away from

Please, love and respect me
Don't judge, I don't judge you
Just accept who I am inside
Not the body you look to

It's true, beauty is only skin deep. I prefer personality over beauty, but most people don't. I blame the media, and always will. I really like your poems so far, they have really good hidden meanings, and I think everyone should read.
