A Great Man

I have some news I hate to break
the world lost a good man today
I guess the pain grew too great
and so God took his soul away

So many tears were shed
so many hearts were touched
during this happy life he led
Our time with him was too rushed

I pray the Lord will find a way
to console those he's left behind
to heal the memory of this day
still fresh in his family's mind

the image of his labored breath
sweeping over his sleeping form
those close to him wept
dejected faces souls forlorn
