Going Back

by Lil_poetry   May 21, 2006

Day by day my feelings vary
Sometimes I ask myself are all of life's obstacles even necessary?
From the ups and downs, to the laughs and frowns
Some days I am filled with a ball of exhilaration
Other days I am nervous, worrying about my next step in life being overwhelmed with hesitation
You ever wish you could go back to when you were a child containing your innocence, without worrying about a major consequence
Your first time meeting Santa Claus on Christmas Eve
Your first day of school when you learned that your parents couldn't stay with you and had to leave
Your first encounter with the tooth fairy
Your first time when looking under the bed was too scary
Your first encounter trick-or-treating
Your first time involved in a school activity competing
Those years flash right before your eyes, before you know it your picking a career and parents are no longer the people upon whom you rely
Your days become hectic and less predictable
Your dreams and aspirations seem as if their finally achievable
Sometimes just taking the time to reminisce about the memories of when I was just a child help me get through the rough times
When I start to feel discouraged and begin to believe that my aspirations are thwarted day after day, I take time to ask for guidance up above and then I know that everything's going to be ok
Over the years I have become optimistic; always worrying about being dedicated to everything I do
Always wanting to feel jubilant each chance I get to do so, because I know that if I continue to strive I will become competent for whatever I take on in life
But no matter how old I get I'll always wonder what it would be like to go back to those years of serene innocence
