POETRY ABOUT POEMS

Poetry is a little confusing to me;
I first thought it needed to rhyme to please
Then I was told it does not have to rhyme,
But then I should not do that all the time.

Then I was told to do a poem called a Senryu;
To tell the truth I did not know what to do.
Then to do a Royal, Sestina, Choka and Rictameter,
Before I can write all of those I will see St. Peter.

Next write a Quatrain, Cameo, Lira or Nonet,
Nine lines, nine syllables in the first, you bet.
A Rondel, Huitain, Double Tetractys and Tanka,
And for all of these poems they will Rank us.

I was trying to write a Sonnet,
And I think I might have gone and done it.
