A Child

I cannot begin to express,
the emotions that I felt.
From the moment that I saw you,
my heart did truly melt.

I walked inside and saw you.
A beauty to behold.
An angel on earth, of this I'm sure.
And i needed not be told.

I am truly blessed to have you.
For you I weep with joy
I was incomplete without you.
You have filled that void.

Everything about you was perfect,
from head to toe.
I wish that I could accept, that of
which i should know.

You are my life, my heart,
my child and my soul
I lived in a world so dark,
yet now it is so full.

These words are inadequate,
to communicate my thoughts
I wish I could elaborate,
so these feelings would not be lost.

I remember clearly, the day
on which my daughter was born.
An early morning in late May,
when my heart purged all scorn.

But to all those parents out there,
this poem is for you.
I pray that you remember,
the day this happened to you.
