Do you remember me?

by hayley   May 25, 2006

Remember, those days when we were friends.
Living out in the sticks made us mad.
We promised we'd live it out to the end,
secretly it wasn't that bad.

We used to camp out in the woods,
take our dogs for a walk.
We'd hang out, run, play all we could,
with no one to talk to, you could talk.

We were two kids, but not the same,
you were a boy, a lot older, me a girl.
Yet we stuck it out, played the game,
running through the woods, let my voice unfurl.

As time went by, we grew up, grew apart.
We still had that magical touch,
until that fateful day, boxes pack, like a dart,
bullseye in my heart, it got too much.

You were gone the crashing of thunder,
nothing to do, no one to share with.
Where are you? I still wonder,
I grew up, started staying out, yet i still drift.

I got lots of new friends in town,
even a job, I've left that country.
Go dancing, get drunk, raise a frown,
Stay out, go cruising for free.

Yet i saw you the other day,
driving through our home land.
You've grown up, but I've got to say,
Those memories come flooding back, I still want your hand.

I tried to wave at you, stare home,
but you were on a different level.
I tried to ring you, but i could only clinch the phone,
It told me you moved on, I didn't rebel.

I hope you're OK and keeping well,
I still love you though you never knew.
I was too scared in case you ran, to tell,
you'll always be in my heart of those little few.
