Empty Smile

by Donnie Roberts   May 27, 2006

She wore and empty smile
with her head hung low
just sad and all alone
with no place to call her home

she cried out in the rain
and tried to drown all the pain
confused and broken inside
screaming out and wondering why
hiding behind her shattered wall
trying to uncover the truth risking it all

walking in circles lifelong
just trying to find a place to belong
looking for a place of exception
exhausted by all the lies and deception

she tried to cover to cover all the scars and cuts on her wrist
just wishing she didn't exist
trying to figure out all the shit she's missed since

just lying in her bed
trying everything just to be dead
she took a walk down by the creek
falling to her knees she began to weep

she goes home to write her longest note
the last thing she ever wrote
she painted her parents room with blood
with a message in red that said misunderstood
now the girl with an empty smile is gone
with the name angel on her headstone

now you know what the girl with an empty smile didn't know
don't let life get you down
just let things go
