My Comfort in the Sea

When I walked into the sunset
To see the waves roll by.
I remembered all my journeys
Across the big blue sky.
The days are long
But the nights cool.
For the stars shine so brightly.
You need no other tool.
The sand is warm
And the water shockingly cold
But I stay here on the beach
For I must be bold.

My tears could fill the ocean,
My sorrow the sandy floor.
When I am here I feel so safe
No need to leave the shore.
I will be alone forever
For he left to defend his land
He promised he would be with me
But now he's buried beneath the sand.
He gave the ultimate sacrifice
I am so grateful and so proud.
I stay here to feel close
As I lay beneath the clouds.
