The truth is

by Raydeen   May 30, 2006

His voice was raised,
she kept hers low,
she wanted to cry but didn't he said crying was a weakness,
so she took every blow.
he was insecure,
so he yelled at her,
he was scared she didn't love him anymore,
he wanted to stop hurting her but he was so unsure.
the only thing he knew to do,
was push her away,
she would leave for hours at a time,
but he was scared she might leave one time and forever stay away.
her breathing was ragged,
tears burned his eyes,
she was yelling back this time,
accusing him of his lies,
he told her he loved her,
she told him to leave,
he screamed that he loved her,
she said it was something she could no longer believe,
he walked to the door,
he fell to his knees,
he looked at her and said
"forgive me baby please,
I want to be here forever,
I don't know why I've been pushing you away,
the truth is,
I need you to stay."
she looked at him,
and brushed a hand across his face,
she kissed his lips,
he put his hands on her waist.

he stopped raising his voice,
stopped pushing her away,
and they were in love until their dying day.

even though she forgave him,
and let him stay,
he broke her heart,
in one never ending way.
but the truth is,
he hurt her,
she smiled though,
and nobody could see.
