But The Wheels Just Turn

by The Spirit of Ash   Jun 1, 2006

I must look like a fool right here on the gravel road
Standing in the view of your rear mirror feeling the sadness bestowed

This place has become lonely and you're leaving without a goodbye
My dreams, my hopes, my wishes have become as useless as the skies

For some reason though, I hope that you'll give me a quick glance
A wave or a signal that you care, just maybe by some unexpected chance...

But the truck wheels just turn and you're still not looking back
Clouds of dust are kicked behind you to cover your departing tracks

I wish you weren't doing this...does it really feel right?
I'm still standing here praying that I might see the break light

Do you even care because if it hurts at all, you haven't shown it yet
And I keeping searching for any sign that you're feeling even some regret

I know there's nothing left for you and I know you won't change your mind
And for some reason I believe you'll miss what you left behind

But no, the wheels just spin and you're turning towards the highway
I know now you won't stop, wave, or anything like that today

You're almost out of view, heading to the town
You know, right now, I'd be good with just a slow down
