Oh Light of Lights

by Jordan W   Jun 1, 2006

When first I read you,
It left me lost and frustrated.
I didn't understand it all.
I was baffled and bemused.
As I thought,
Where was my epiphany?
The answers I'd hoped to find?
A blinding light filled my head,
And suddenly I was sitting on a beach.
And my Light came to me.
He sat beside me on the sand and I asked,
Oh Light of Lights, I don't understand,
What is are you telling me?
And so he asked me to look at the ocean,
And to tell him what I saw.
I told him I saw only the cool and serene water,
Rolling in calm, even waves.
He told me to look deeper, to try to understand.
To open my mind and to look beyond the top layer,
To see into the water and not just the surface.
I thrust my head below and my mind exploded with comprehension.
He said, that too is what I am.
And at that moment I knew.
I saw you like the ocean,
And just read it as a book.
But to see the wonders that it holds,
You must take a deeper look.
If you try to read it with your mind,
You may never reach your goal.
To understand the word of God,
You must read it with your soul.
Then you'll begin to comprehend,
What the vision said was true.
Beneath your surface,
God's word will speak to you.
Oh Light of Lights,
I understand.

Note:
I am not a follower of the bible yet I was inspired a while back by another mans words.
