I can’t no longer

by EddieDeLaRosa   Feb 18, 2004

I had to work hard for what I have done
Many have died by the end of my gun
I’m a good person I don’t have to lie
In a war you kill first or you surly will die
For all I have killed I have love and respect
your beliefs and your country you died to protect
a loud barrage of bullets form the bushes they came
I got hit in the chest, face, stomach and then came the pain
*My jaw was in my throat, my upper lip and teeth were gone
My lips shall never kiss you,
My throat shall never speak to you,
My mouth shall never sing you, another song
*One of my eye was shut the other had a star shape hole
My eyes will never see,
Your eyes,
Your smile,
your beautiful face, to guide my hands for me to hold
*my neck was open to the spinal cord my blood was shiny and thick
my body cant no longer provide
warmth when I hold you
comfort when you need it
it cant no longer appear when my presence you miss
my fingers were torn from my hand so close but yet so far
my hands cant no longer
hold your hand as we walk
dry your tears when you cry
play you, another song from my guitar

baby I was ruthless I know this is true
but all I wanted
was to come home to you

Be aware that the line with * were take from “the man I killed”
I don’t recall the author but I will find out and post his name later
