Pressure

The noise swarms around me
the words of encouragement
the boo\'s
the cheers

I look
and i see
only one person
a single person
standing between me and my dream

i stand there
waiting nerviously
my hands clenched, sweating....
my feet are shifting
my body bounces
as i wait for the exact moment

i look up and all around me are the stands filled til brimmimg.
the crowd is on its feet
as they wait for me
i tilt my head back and look up into the stars wishing with all my might for my dream to come true
i hear the whistle
and i bring my self back to reality

theres only me,
the ball
the goalie

i look at the ref and he nods at me
my eyes shoot back to the goal
i back up...
i take a couple stutter steps
my leg comes back
and the ball goes shooting
down the field
towards the goal
a black and white blur
the goalie dives
the ball bounces....

and hits the net....
i cannot believe it
my dream HAD come true
