That Perfect Dream

by Flying Phoenix   Jun 4, 2006

Woken up by the morning sun
Drifting hazily though my curtains
Stirred from that perfect dream
That golden fantasy
That time alone

Grasping, clutching, trying to regain sleep
The falling back deeply
The vision lost, the one I seek

Soft warm surroundings
In this comfort here
But that delusion left
And I feel cold and bare

The harsh stark reality
Just heightens my loss
The one thing I need
What I dream of
The perfect night
Still awake in my mind
Was only a fantasy
In which my desires are entwined

Safely in your arms
Wrapped around and held tight
Reassuring presence
In the dark lonely night

Gently tears of reality
Trickle softly down my face
What if it was real?
It felt so
I still know your touch, your taste

But there I am
Lost again
In this realm of imagination
Far from here
That perfect dream
Of what I lost
And what I do hold near
