Ode to Ben Franklin

ODE TO BEN FRANKLIN

Ben Franklin an indentured slave, escaped to Philly one day,
His brother let him go, and did not seek where Ben did stay.
Ben continued the trade of the printing press,
And for a long while he thought this what I do best.

But Franklin was a scientist and an inventor too,
He proved lightning was electricity and nearly got killed, the fool.
He invented the bifocals, the Franklin stove and the lightning rod as he was no slack,
He started the postal service, libraries and Poor Richards Almanak.

As a patriot, he was the only man to shape all the important documents of the US,
He worked on the Albany Plan of Union, the treaty with France and he was not a pest.
He was instrumental in the Declaration of Independence, US Constitution and peace with ole King George,
And if he had been young enough, he would have even been with Washington as Valley Forge.

Now Franklin liked to have fun and some people said he was a little odd,
Like the nude air baths he took in his room, showing off his rather large bod.
Or when he swam the river Thames up and back in merry ole London,
But when he studied how eating certain foods made farts smell better, people thought he was undone.

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were Ben Franklins peers,
But Ben preferred merchants and traders to talk to and with whom he drank his beers.
Ben Franklin was truly an American and not an aristocrat,
And that is why history declared him as the greatest American,
and Dat is Dat.

That was a great poem on Ben Franklin. I especially liked knowing he studied farts. LMAO, you did a better job writing a poem on an individual than I did. Keep on writing my friend!!
