Don't You Know. (villanelle)

by Ashley   Jun 5, 2006

I'm in love with a stranger, don't you know.
He is perfect for me in every way.
And it all started when I saw his fro.

It all started with a simple hello.
There was grace that I needed to display.
I'm in love with a stranger, don't you know.

He didn't mind that I was just me though.
It was then I knew that I had to stay.
And it all started when I saw his fro.

With help, we let the conversation flow.
I didn't want to wait another day.
I'm in love with a stranger, don't you know.

For hours, we let this emotion grow.
I'm still clinging to every word you say.
And it all started when I saw his fro.

All this only happened three days ago.
To be in your heart, forever I'll pray.
I'm in love with a stranger, don't you know.
And it all started when I saw his fro.

~This poem follows a certain structure, it's stanzas are:
a1-b-a2/a-b-a1/a-b-a2/a-b-a1/a-b-a2/a-b-a1-a2. the "a1" is the same line, needs to repeat wherever it says a1. Same with "a2". All the a's should rhyme with each other. Same with the b's. and each line has to have 10 syllables. I challange you to write one. Good luck! Let me know, and i'll check it out! thanks for reading~
