Cherry Street

by Courtney Medina   Jun 8, 2006

Out over on Cherry Street,
Followed by the patter of my feet,
I saw a young man die.
It was over by the corner store
Once the killer shut the door
I saw the victim fall
I saw the victim fall
The glint of his hands shone in the light
As the sunset fell to start the night
The poor boy!
He breathed a very short breath
While in the shadows stood Old Man Death
The end is coming.
To a man so young,
The end is coming.
He stumbled with his words,
Please help me.
I don't want to die.
Please help me.
Then he took a sigh
(Cough, cough, cough) he choked on blood,
Out of his mouth it poured like a flood.
I need to have life.
I cannot die.
I need to have life.
(Cough, cough, sigh)
Then he lay there dead
At last, put on his death bed
I saw him die
I saw him die
