Waiting.

Untamed hair of a soft russet
A gentle kiss I will not regret
I trace the lines of your silhouette
And just like that, you're gone.

The steady ticking of a clock
I hear the tick, sighs mute the tock
You have the key, you won't unlock
The door and you're still gone.

Shadows veil the empty wall
Whispers echo down the hall
I blink by reflex, and tears fall
And land upon my breast.

A light flickers below the door
I divert my gaze for seconds or more
Darkness returns to the floor
A car passed from the west.

I caress the petals of the roses
In my silence, noise imposes
An opening squeak and then it closes
You enter through the door.

Untamed hair of a soft russet
A gentle kiss I will not regret
"I'm here," you say, I will not forget
"And I missed you, mi amor."
