White Lies.

by Rae   Jun 9, 2006

Under the closed eyes of tranquility
You refuse to break the silence

(Will you open your eyes?)

The throbbing of your temples
Muffle the heinous sounds of reality
Unconsciously, you hide from life

(hiding)
You hide from life
Your eyes are red from crying
Yes

And I can do nothing more than tell you
"Everything will be fine someday"
I can do nothing more than tell you
"All this pain will go away."

You don't have to believe me
I wouldn't expect you to
(Doubt)

Although I would never be dishonest
My words are broken with never speaking
Of what I know will scald your heart
(Protection)

I see you sigh in anguish
It hurts me more than it hurts you
(Cliche?)

You think I cannot understand
And that's a stinging mistruth
(False)

But I can do nothing more than tell you
"Everything will be fine someday"
I can do nothing more than tell you
"All this pain will go away."

(Lies)

But it won't
And we both know it
Although my words are mostly honest
(Mostly)

I cannot speak of something
That I know will scald your heart.
