17 years

17.
It's amazing how such a small number
Can mean so much to us
In the span of a lifetime.
17;
15 years of laughter,
Of smiles,
Of tears falling to bring new hope.
17;
It's funny, how
Such a short time
Is so important to us,
How everything hangs on a bond
Started when two girls met.
Making summer program t-shirts and hats
In the heated rooms of Tacken elementary.
To Barbies and Baywatch
And speeding ahead to boys in the backseat.
17;
How is it that time has gone so fast?
Growing up
With a best friend
Has never been as fun as this.
Sweet Decadence
And bittersweet hearts
Dancing in the rain
And eating cheese puffs on the couch.
17;
And 17 more
And the 17 after that
And the 1,000 years after that
We'll still be here.
17;
What more could I ask for?
Except for this to never end.
