Porcelain Play

by Brianna   Jun 12, 2006

Curtain up, the act now begins,
Not one tear, but endless grins.
Never a frown, never a groan,
Not one sign of feeling will ever be shown,
For i am your puppet, your porcelain doll,
I'll always be smiling, my head held up tall.
No tears will you see from my shining glass eyes,
You won't see the emptyness, hatred or lies.
And I'll keep on acting, perfecting my play,
Until my painted on smile starts to fade away.
Or the shine in my eyes falters and turns dim,
And my suffering heart falls to ashes within.
Only when i can take no more, this facade will be ended,
I'll finally break enough to where i cannot be mended.
Yet, I'll quiet my despair, and hold back the tears,
While my fragile glass cracks slowly over the years.
But for now I'm here, and at your side I'll be,
Here for you to see what you want to see.
And you'll never wish for anything more,
While inside, my soul is screaming, shredded and torn.
