Untitled

I wish: I lived on a blank piece of paper
The edginess you saw in it soon began to taper
My vibrant colors contrasted so well with the air
But my paper world crumbled with a deafening tear

You ruined a girl so pale she was gold
Your greatest artwork: SOLD

I would be happiest if I were an outline
You promised to color me. Promised I would shine.
You can't see through me; you can't see me at all
Promises aren't enough when my lines are so small.

I'm still the gray girl wishing for stars to say yes
A mess, you left me a mess

Police tape to ward off those who want me to mend
What is broken is broken and what's not won't comprehend
I've tried tape and glue and string and wire
I'm in tatters and rags and I'm starting to tire

No one can put me together again
None of your horses
None of your men
