One Too Many Hearts

by SingleWing   Jun 14, 2006

Just short of love
Is what happens when you speak
Takes my breath away
What happens is you make me weak

And hour or so you linger
At the back of my mind
Long after you've gone
Your scent is left behind

I smell your perfume
On my clothes
After we've said goodbye
I shut the door, everyone knows

They all think I've forgotten you
I'm over, you're gone
But your face stills swims
In my dreams, you float along

Single words astound me
A single expression, I could falter
I hold back the tears
Trying to think no longer

Your presence is blissful
Your looks so sinful
What I shouldn't want is more
Contrary temporarily mutual

Single heart becomes two
As you walk through to door
That is when
One too many hearts fall to the floor
