High School Homophobia

by Siobhan   Jun 16, 2006

Brick walls
Grey lockers
Masses of bodies
It is the sight I see daily
I fight through the swarm
Of all ignorance
My books close to my side
Holding as tightly to them as I
Do my life
I long to be one of them
Ignorant for a moment
Or longer
The move carelessly and without purpose
Some donâ??t move at all
Slow to the rest of existence
Not I though
I move with calculated steps
Fast in rate, slow in desire
I do not joke I merrily
Walk like a prisoner towards death
Iâ??m not excepted here
My knees are week, almost home free
Almost
Just move
Left foot, then right
Clutching my books
Iâ??m just trying to survive
Thatâ??s all Iâ??ve ever wanted
I take my calculated steps
Without breaking pace
Just one word
And pain for life.

Great poems. I know what you mean in every line. It's just amazing. It's pathetic that people would rather see two guys holding guns than holding hands.. What a shame. I hope society changes for the better soon. Keep up the good work!
