MY FLIGHT

by applecheeks   Jun 16, 2006

STANDING ON THE CLIFFS EDGE
THE VALLEY IS BELOW
I STRETCH OUT MY ARMS
JUMP, AND GO WITH THE FLOW

I SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE
IN THE DRIFTS OF THE WIND
FEEL MY HEART BEATING
AS THE ADRENALINE KICKS IN

BUT AMAZINGLY I'M NOT SCARRED
AS I FLOAT THRU THE HILLS
AS I SOAK UP THE WONDER
OF HOW A BIRD MUST FEEL

MY EYES SURVEY THE BEAUTY
OF GOD'S HANDIWORK AT BAY
THE MOUNTAINS AND THE COLORS
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ARRAY

MY BURDENS ONCE SO HEAVY
BUT NOW I FEEL CAREFREE
NOT SURE HOW I'M STILL ALIVE
INSTEAD OF IN ETERNITY

AND SOMETHING IN THE DISTANCE
CATCHES ME OFF GUARD
I'M NOT SURE OF WHAT I'M SEEING
CUZ ITS SIMPLY STILL TOO FAR

BUT I LOOK A LITTLE HARDER
I'M SURE NOW OF WHAT I SEE
THE SHADOW ON THE GROUND BELOW
IS NOT ONLY OF ME

AND AS MY FEET TOUCH SAFELY
I'M NOW CERTAIN OF WHAT I'VE SEEN
FOR ON EITHER SIDE OF ME WERE
TWO ANGELIC BEINGS!
