The Stone

by Lisi Browning   Jun 17, 2006

Her fate was determined
long before birth.
This secret she keeps
is the ultimate burden.

She ponders,
she waits
for the moment of truth.
Will she give it away
and change the course of fate
or will she keep it,
treasure it,
protect it with her life?

By the moonlight she waits
for them to crash through her door,
and with her heavy heart she stares.
Stares, stares
at the light from the stone.
Such a mysterious thing,
though it may be..
it was hers.
Her guidance,
her conscience,
her heart....almost.

The burden of the world,
the burden on her heart
she carried all on her own.....

"meow"
Without looking up,
her mind made up,
"shut up, Giles"

BANG,
BANG,
BANG!

Without looking up
to see the men who
cause the ruckus,
she sat there and proclaimed,
"Before you go
to take this stone
I have some words for thee.
You'll have to die
or take my life
because the safety
of this world
is all up to me."
