Selling Out

by Stumbling Shaman   Jun 20, 2006

Grind me up, throw me around
The world is on fire
Wants and needs hold us down
Fueling our desires

Jump aboard, play the game
No one gets out alive
Drop your soul, forget your shame
Like a child playing with knives

Dancing with the curdling flower
One and all throughout time
Silent screams within your power
Getting lost, breaking down- wipe away the monkey shine

Meanings within meanings
Conundrums and hidden lore
Knowledge without real feeling
Ever yearning for something more

So that's how you play my friend
Consume and destroy till we're all bereft
So superior, oh what fun -but in the end-
Remember, pain will be the only thing left

Very true. I loved the sentiment and imagery in this especially the children and knives line.
Your vocab and flow really sucked me in to the poem and it left me feeling battered and bruised.
    Keep it up.
