A Last Goodbye

by Fallen Angel   Jun 21, 2006

The time has come for me to bow out,
The lights have come up and the curtain's come down,
This is my final performance,
I've played host to tragedy, to romance and anger,
Painted images of infinite splendour,
Written in blood and tears of torment,
Written in gold of love and freedom
And all with endless enjoyment,
But the time has come, all things must end,
The last ink has dried,
The last page torn,
From my flagging inspiration,
Free to float down deserted streets,
Another addition to the urban tumble-weed
So now I take my final bow,
And bid you all adieu,
It's been a pleasure, it really has,
But my days were always numbered,
I'm taking this opportunity to bow,
Knowing I'll be swiftly forgotten,
Thank you for having me,
It's been such an honour,
To display my scribblings besides the work of true masters,
But now I really must go,
My time is running short,
Quickly, take one more bow,
To muted, solomn applause,
And disappear into the wings,
Deliquesce into the darkness, away from all the light
Till the memory, like the inspiration, fades,
And the poems I once wrote can be finally buried,
The magic of the words quietly evanished.
