A Tale of Two Siblings

by Raychil   Jun 23, 2006

Here's a story of Nick and Julie
A brother and sister who were always close
However life wasn't that easy for them
Usually "each other" was all they had at the most

Their mother died when they were young
For a while it was them and their dad
But they didn't mind one bit
Everything they needed, they already had

But one day the joy was taken
When a woman walked through the door
They thought it would be a nice change
But they didn't know what they were in for

This woman also had two children
So Nick and Julie thought it fine
They'd gain a mother and two siblings
But all happiness dies in time

This woman treated them like nothing,
Like filth that was below her
But there was nothing they could do
Except pray things would get better

But nothing ever changed
Things only got worse each day
They'd do chores and take the mental abuse
They couldn't stop it, there was no way

Each day they received criticism
Because nothing they did would be enough
They weren't perfect like her children
They were just people she could crush

The mental abuse kept going
Everything about them was all wrong
At home they had nothing but each other
And that bond kept them strong

Even today it still goes on
Nick's 17, Julie's two years below
They don't tell anyone about it
They're afraid to let the pain show

Nick stays out with friends all night
Julie stays up crying
There's no way to ignore the pain
They gave up on trying

At least Nick will be in college soon
That gives them a goal to strive
That Nick can save him and his sister
That's enough hope to keep them alive..
