Best Friends

by cathy   Jun 26, 2006

Rain falls like the memories we've shared
And yet you seem not to care
Especially not about me
And the way things used to be

I hear the rain fall on the roof
As I sit here and think of how we used to say poof
All of our problems seemed to disappear
But that was back when we had no fear

I think of the messes we used to make
And of all the fun times we had at the lake
I also recall how we would wave hi
To all of the strangers driving by

That was when we had each others backs
Now there is no one here to pick up the slack
We seem to have grown so far apart
Yet you seem not to notice, as if you have no heart

I thought this could never happen to you and me
That best friends we would always be
But now I know that I was wrong
Because our hearts no longer sing the same song

You may no longer be my best friend
But our memories will be with me to the end
So please try your best not to forget about me
And how close you and me used to be
