This world of pain is sad and enclosed
i fear I'm trapped within it
but in the midst of darkness and shadows,
it appears a dim candle has been lit

the light that you have given me
shines brightly through the pain
i fear that if i had not met you by now
it's certain that I'd be insane

if only you knew what you meant to me
you'd see life isn't so bad
when there are people like you to depend on
you have no room to be sad

we've all been through our ups and downs,
and i can see why you've had more downs
but realize that i need you here
and I'll always want you around

you are my support system
the foundation i need to live
I'd gladly do anything for you
and whatever you want, I'll give

I'm mad at myself for what i put you through
and that I've masked my pain,
but you see, even though we hurt in different ways
we are all the same

i have no words more words to express
how grateful i am to you, friend
and whether it's in person or spirit...
