Pier 13

by Pablo   Jun 29, 2006

She accompanied him to the pier
He was in the boat SS Forever Lost
He promised he'd return and
Soaked in tears she sweared to wait
So she went to the edge and she stood there in Pier 13.

She wore the same dress in case
He came back he would find her
She stood her ground while the
Crabs clawed away
They clawed away her clothing, her sadness and her ilusion of love.

Many nights nestled in her hair
and her lips. Her eyes filled with Sunrises but not one of them ever
Returned her love to her.

Five years went by like this and in
The town she became known she
Became known as the loner
The Loner of Pier 13.

On a cool April night as she saw the
Moon rise once more, she let go of Him, her dreams of love, and hopes of hapiness. Her body trembled, she fell
She fell and died of a broken heart.

The next day the SS Forever Lost
made it triumphant return home.
The man got off but he wasn't alone. A woman accompanied him and they hapily went home.

While walking home they heard the
Story and then he remembered
His promise to the girl. He left
his new love home and came into my offices.

He asked if she was here.
I nodded yes. Then he left a
Folded piece of paper on the desk
and left with his wife never to be
Seen in town again.

I opened the paper and I read what it said: "Make it look nice."
I folded it back up and got to work.

Today I burried her
No one came to see the poor girl
As I finished I said a quick prayer
And walked way with tears in my eyes thinking I did it for her not for Him.

Today,ten years after her death
I came to visit her as often I do.
I thought about all the times
I saw her in the pier too afraid
To tell her that I loved her so.

I told her how I felt and told her
I was sorry. I layed some pink roses ( her favorites) by her headstone, the headstone I carved that read:

Victoria
Alone, alone in the past
Alone, alone with her spirit
Alone, alone with the sea
Alone, alone without her "love"
Alone, all alone in Pier 13
