Through Thine Eyes

by EllenoreShade   Jun 30, 2006

Before I put up this poem...to make it have more sense to the reader. It is written in first person from a girl from the Holocaust, and I had to write it for a class.

We are the lambs of God.
Those of us sacrifice
because of what we know is right.

Killed for reasons we cannot help
Our Eye, Hair, and Skin Color
I write this in a mutter.

Crying every night
I lost my mother to hunger.
We are all just a number.

Feeble and discarded
Sometimes I wish God would hear my plea.
I am all alone and sometimes I wish they would take me.

Fearful with approach
Germans stalk the yards their eyes sharp.
Just wishing one of us would make it across the barb.

Sickening and Poisoned
All the Nazis have taught is we are imperfect.
The dead fall everyday always with the same dramatic effect.

I pray the messiah will come.
He would bring us relieve from this treachery.
I hope he will bring us sanctuary.

Myself and I
I am Jewish and it is 1945.
Though I am somewhat lucky because I may be one of the few that survive.
