Great Uncle Bill

by lesley   Jul 2, 2006

The year was 1923
the month it was November
the day it was the 29th
a day for us to remember

A little baby boy was born
to Mr & Mrs Galbraith
he was named William
as he took his first breath

A fine man he turned out to be
and Isobel, that was his wife
he meant it when he married her
as he married her for life

Over forty years of marriage
and never blessed with a child
not once did they ever complain
they just carried on and smiled

A very special couple
who meant the world to me
two very kind hearted people
as everyone could see

The year was now 1998
Isobel was diagnosed with cancer
November was the month she died
nothing could be done to help her

William missed her very much
and said it wouldnt be much longer
until he would be by her side
and pass away so he could join her

1 year and 1 month later
Christmas eve of 1999
the news came that he had died
I just felt my heart go bang

Its only one month later
and remember him I will
For I loved them both so dearly
Great Aunt Isobel and Great Uncle Bill
