From Your Best Friend

by soulblazer   Feb 26, 2004

In my imagination, I am your best friend

You may not know or think so, but for me its sweet pretend

So many memories I have, that never really were

But now and then I cherish them as if they did occur.

I’d give you my mittens and coat if you were ever cold

And reach to pick a flower that you could never hold

A walk in the park to talk over an ice cream cone

Wrap my body over yours to protect you from the hailstones.

Lift you up and carry you when you cant bear to carry on

Hold you and caress your head until the pain was gone.

Tell you that you’re beautiful in the days you don’t feel you are

Let you climb my back to help you catch a shooting star.

Like children in the countryside whose job it is to play

Chasing butterflies and burrowing through piles of hay

I picture is like this in another time and space

And my mind has captured images of that happy place.

These are the memories I cherish so

And I just wanted to let you know

You’ve touched my life so many ways

To see you grow from day to day.

And even if the day should come that we are not in sight

Or I don’t mean that much to you or if we ever fight

I will still remain your best friend, even if you disagree

Because you can never change what I feel inside of me.
