Autumn Rain

by ivan070   Jul 10, 2006

Darkness has come;
Welcoming another long cold night;
Bringing on the the chilling wind;
Scattering the red autumn leaves;

I look up at the sepia tinted skies
of this season of late autumn,

I saw a flock of migrating birds gliding south under a pale and dull sky light...
Seeking shelter and survival against the oncoming winter;

Boredom has driven me out;
For a walk down this park;
I moved aimlessly and with no purpose;

I questioned my sanity and laughed at my own gullibility;

I had the urge to feed on nicotine;
Searched for my crumpled pack of red and white and my beloved Zippo;

Then the autumn rain came;
Showering and drenching;
Little rain drops fell on my dry lips;
Brushing my ragged face;

In a moment of eccentricity;
I allowed the rain to wash my sorrows and to drown my boredom;

I called upon the chilling wind to send me shivers...

Rain, please awake me from all my illusions and misguided thoughts;

Rain please cleanse my tainted mind and refresh my tired soul;

Wake me up...wake me up;

I have consumed myself, too self absorbed;

I need your inspiration to escape this living hell... and to be my old self again.
