Is love hurt?

If you were to ask people all around,
many would say that in love, hurt is bound.
It is said, in romance, those you love will shun you,
causing much pain, and the question, "What did I do?"
It seems inevitable that your heart will break,
making everyday sad, from the moment you wake.
I and others have asked, "Is this love?",
"Is it not to be pure as a dove?"
Relationship after relationship, romance after romance,
this love that is supposed to be great, seems more like a painful dance.
Hurt after hurt, heartbreak after heartbreak,
I thought about quitting, for my heart's sake.
But then, like others, I meet, 'the one',
with you in my life, the hurt seems done.
Now the wretched, and tormenting hurts,
have been replaced, by sweet loving flirts.
"Is love hurt?", others still continue to wonder,
I say, "the hurt passes, like a storm of thunder".
Love being hurt, now just wouldn't make sense,
how its been with you, is the evidence.
And so, finally, to the long pondered, and difficult question, an answer has been found,
love is not hurt, as when it comes, your feelings will be true, and to another, you'll be bound.
