The leaf

by Spirit of the forest   Jul 16, 2006

The leaf
Such a small, fragile, thing
that as we walk take so for granted
crunching underfoot
Like so many people
The leaf lies helpless
moving on an endless tide
swaying with the swayed
and moving wherever the elements move it
But you see
So many of them are there
So many underfoot
Crushed with witless ease
But it takes leaves
to make the trees
