Southern by the Grace of God

Feeling alone in every situation,
Smiles fading from his face, he
Quietly slips into the last row of the
Classroom, and knows this is only temporary.

Is he a southerner, they all look at him
Like a foreign object under a microscope.
He’s different, left the south to go up
North for a better education.

He’s been raised on grits and the
Mississippi river. Fishing, hunting,
Working with his own two hands.
It’s all he’s ever known.

He’s Southern by the grace of god, and he
Loves every minute of every day, knowing
That good ol’ Alabama is here in his heart,
Here in his heart to stay.

His granddaddy told him to keep his
Head up high, and to be an honest man.
On his grave he was described in all of 5 words,
They summed up his life more so than any other.

“A Hero to His Own” that’s him.
Sayin’ grace every meal, yellin’ out
“Amen Brother” at the church service down
The road, the one he grew up in, the one he knows.

He’s Southern by the grace of god, and he
Loves every minute of every day, knowing
That good ol’ Alabama is here in his heart,
Here in his heart to stay.

This was REALLY hard to read. An ok story, and not too bad flowing. But it made it soo difficult to read. You might want to change it and repost for better comments.
