To a Dear Friend . . . Lost

by Nicholas Kerst   Jul 16, 2006

The memories remain still,
And I wish for their depart,
For what i did to you,
Is ripping me apart.

In my time of most disgrace,
When my life was a bloody knife,
You did anything to help,
You'd even bargain your own life.

But when you needed me the most,
And I had emotional stability,
I told you not to bring me down,
And you saw the other side of me.

I can apologize all i want,
But what I did was wrong,
I'll never be able to forgive myself,
But please believe this sorrowful song.

And so my parting word in this apology,
Will be what i want from you, Jen,
I need you to be in my life,
. . . I need you to be my friend.
