As the rain pours outside my window

by Nearly but not quite   Jul 17, 2006

This is about people's different attitudes to rain, alternatively it's all the same person but in a different mood each time.

As the rain pours and pours
Outside windows and locked doors
I hear it, not wanting to look
As I lie here, curled up with my book.

As the rain falls and falls
As i lie here in my smalls
I'm so glad that I'm with him
Sighing in the grass, on a whim.

As the rain keeps and keeps on pouring
As I am constantly adoring
The cleansing, joyful rain
Sent to wash away my pain.

As the rain just falls in sheets
As the telephone steadily bleats
I don't know where I'd rather be
In here with work, or outside with me.

And the rain will not stop raining
On these attitudes unchanging
My arms uplifted to the sky
Not thinking at all, nor wondering why.
