Point of no return

by Lenny   Jul 18, 2006

Gentle touch,
Draws a line,
Finger tips trace the pattern,
Follow the leader,
Dressed in red,
On they march,
Retrace the steps,
The troop of soldiers,
Crimson brigade,
And the boys in the hills,
The troops in blue,
Walk their paths,
Soon to encounter,
At the cold, cold point,
Of no return,
The red troops lead,
By the silver eagle,
Precision and order,
Tightly bound,
The blue follow none,
And lumber along,
No sense of direction,
Staggered they trek,
One troop with leader,
One without,
Sharing a mission,
One rationale,
To meet at that point,
Where ice cracks jagged,
That point where frost,
Destroys and thrives,
That point where life,
Is a mock able mirage,
That cold, cold point,
Of no return.

    What is this poem about?

This poem tells two stories, one the metaphor for the other. The metaphor is the story of two troops, may be scouts, as they trek to meet at a cold place that they cannot get out of. The underlying story however, is of a person who is comitting suicide by cutting their wrist, and the two troops symbolise the tears and the blood/knife.
