Hospitol Bed [Just One Day]

Hospital Bed [Just One Day]

I ran away in my contradicting mind
rushing through twisting streets
noises, sounds, cries, screams,
of my own head drowning in madness

And found myself in a hospital bed
But was i awake? was i breathing?

Familiar eyes stared me down
as i heard words of "emergency room"
I heard the speeding beep and flat line
Then they put me in your cold room
As i heard the sound of dying machines

with my recovering heart and lonely bed
I turned my head towards your living corpse
Inquisitive eyes, icy eyes, piercing eyes
Looked into my own dying starless eyes

We made a connection in all the isolation
And though you stayed silent, i heard you say
"We don't have to stay in these hospital beds"
"We could run, farther than ever before,
safe together, for you are my perfect stranger"
And i knew we couldn't live another day in this place
so i cut the cords, the IVs, the tube and chains
and set us free, loving you for just one day.

As we pulled ourselves away
from the beeping machines
you took an incision knife
and cut your finger, smiling
and as the blood flowed down you said
"This is how much i like you"
Then you licked it and kissed me
tasting poison in my mouth
I grabbed you and pulled you closer
Letting you put an open wound in my heart
And for this day, just one day
I loved you and no one else
i thought about you and held you
like no one else. just one day.

And so hand in hand we fled
from the fateful hospital beds
And you said "I'll stay with you"
these hearts will stop before we do
never stop running.
never stop running.
never stop loving.
