The Pawn

by loretta Taylor   Jul 21, 2006

I cannot recall how it began
This love I have for you
I should have ran

You flirted with me. Why?
You made me want you
It was an emotional high.

It was just your game
Your sadistic joke
To make me tame

I fulfilled your need
I fell for you
Your warnings I did not heed

I would have wore your ring
I truly did not believe
I was just your plaything

Now I know I was just your pawn
Why do I want you back?
I should be glad you're gone.

If only we could mean the words we say, instead of feigning strength. I like this, as it is what I wish I could say.. Well done. xx
