The Unknown Devours

by Briana   Jul 24, 2006

A whisper is heard from a distance
A man's eyes turn toward the sound
Body shaking, in anticipation
But nobody can be found

A screech plays on like a scratch on a chalkboard
Sensitivity causes the man to jump
But still he sat, in wonderment
Trying to figure out where the noise had come from

A body's pressence is felt from behind
The man twirls to the other side
Searching all places, that came to mind
For it was now that he was afraid fear would bide

The air blacks out before him
He swears that he has gone blind
Then the idea of, the unknown
Causes his cowardess within to bind

Footsteps are heard in the room
Slowly creeping and approaching him
The man then thought of his next move
For he never went out on a whim

All is bright and calm again
As he opens up his eyes
The light of day, says "it was a dream"
And it catches him by surprise

So he lethargically slips out of bed
Then strolls on his carpet ground
However interrupted, in the process
By another peculiar sound...

As the lights go down...
