The City

by The Heartbreak Monologues   Jul 25, 2006

Miles of asphalt unfurl.
Intersections, highways, and exits compliment your thoughts.
Twisting and turning over the stark absence of your mind.

Clouds sprinkle the horizon.
Lit on fire from the sparks of ideas,
Shooting out from the sun.
Rapidly expanding into a brush fire stirred by the wind.

Water sparkles from under the bridge,
Reflecting images captured in droplets.
Crossing the barrier between the cities,
Casting my love for you into the waves.

Skyscrapers' rip apart the fresh night sky,
Stars flooding in from the cuts.
As the lodged crescent moon,
Pulls everything together.
